I won incredible £1m lottery jackpot after ‘glitch’ but only pocketed £10 – I took Camelot to court to get my prize

The outcome of Joan's legal battle has been revealed

A WOMAN who won an incredible £1million lottery jackpot after a "glitch" but only pocketed £10 took Camelot to court to get her prize.

Joan Parker-Grennan, from Boston in Lincolnshire, bought a £5 Instant Win Game ticket online on August 25, 2015.

Camelot said that "at the point" Joan bought her ticket, its computer system predetermined her prize to be £10.

But a "technical issue" that day made "different graphical animations" flash up on some players’ screens, the High Court heard.

Two numbers with a designated prize of £10 were highlighted on Joan’s screen with a message saying: "Congratulations, you have won £10."

But the court heard that two other matching numbers – with a designated prize of £1 million – also appeared because of the technical issue.

Joan sued National Lottery operator Camelot for the £1million lotto prize after it only paid out out a tenner.

She asked for a summary judgment in her favour because Camelot could not win at a trial.

Camelot's lawyer Philip Hinks said that it was liable only to pay the "outcome of the ticket as predetermined" by its computer system.

He said there was a "substantial" factual dispute concerning what outcome had been predetermined.

Mr Justice Jay turned down Joan's application for a summary judgment - before ruling in Camelot's favour.

After poring over Camelot's terms and conditions, he found that Joan "did not win a second prize of £1million".
