THE Christmas school break is fast approaching.
So with the end of term firmly in sight, get ready to treat your child’s teacher with a festive gift.
These budget bakes will score you top marks . . .
TAKE THE BISCUIT: Whip up a batch of biccies by beating 100g butter, £1.10, with 50g caster sugar, £1.65, and gradually add 150g of sifted self-raising flour, 70p, all at Asda.
Form the dough into 16 balls and then press down with a fork. Bake at 180C until golden (18 to 20 minutes).
SWEET NOTHING: Have a go at making super-simple, two-ingredient fudge.

You will need a couple of bars of milk or white chocolate, 45p each, and a tin of sweetened condensed milk, £1, both from Tesco.
Melt slowly in a saucepan over a low heat before pouring into a greased dish. Leave it to cool and chop into chunks. It is so easy and tastes delicious.
BEST BAR NONE: Make your own festive chocolate slabs.
Pick up a few bars of Fin Carre milk chocolate, 55p each, and a pack of Alesto fruit-and-nut mix costing £1.35 at Lidl.
Melt the bars in a bowl over hot water and then spread out on a tray covered in greaseproof paper.
Crush the fruit-and-nut mixture and sprinkle over the chocolate. Put it in the fridge and, when cool, break into slabs.
CHOCS AWAY: Homemade truffles are so delicious.
Buy a bar of dark choc, £1.35, and the new Ballycastle chocolate-and-clementine cream, £1.99, both from Aldi.
Heat the cream in a saucepan and add chunks of the chocolate until smooth.
Cool the mixture, roll into balls and dust with Aldi cocoa powder, £1.49.
PRESENT THE BEST: Wrap your creations in festive some cookie bags. Get a pack of 50 at Amazon, with decorative stickers.
