Greedy Brits snap up Aldi’s Cuthbert the Caterpillar toys and flog them online for eye-watering sum leaving mums furious
PROFITEERS are snapping up Aldi’s Cuthbert the Caterpillar toys — and then flogging them online for up to £250.
The £8.99 wooden plaything is one of this winter’s most coveted toys but unscrupulous shoppers are buying up stock to resell on eBay.
One Cuthbert the Caterpillar was advertised for £255 — nearly 30 times its retail value.
Mum-of-two Ria Jones, 39, found the shelves stripped bare on the day the toy went on sale.
After seeing the sky-high prices online, the teacher, from Bury St Edmunds, said: “There’s a special place in hell for people who do this.
“It’s just sad people are being ripped off.”

“I don’t know if Aldi could limit them to one customer or one per family but you don’t know if someone has five kids and wants them for everyone.
“As much as I want it, I’m not willing to pay the prices they’re being sold for on eBay.
“The people that do genuinely want this toy are losing out.
“I understand people are trying to make some money during a cost of living crisis but there are people who genuinely want to play with this toy and aren’t being given the chance.”

Abigail Matthews, 22, hoped to buy the toy as a Christmas present for her two-year-old niece.
She said: “I’ve seen them advertised for £65 — it’s ridiculous.”
