Major energy brand closes for good as 3.5million customers switched to Ovo – what it means for bills
A MAJOR energy brand has closed for good as 3.5million customers automatically switched to a big name brand.
All SSE Energy Service customers have now switched to Ovo Energy.
Now that the process is complete the SSE Energy Services brand is gone for good and all customers will have their gas and electricity managed directly by the Ovo Energy brand instead.
A statement on the SSE website now reads: "We've now successfully moved SSE Energy Services to the OVO brand following the sale of SSE Energy Services to OVO Energy in 2020.
"This website will be switched off towards the end of October 2023."
The transfers haven't interrupted a customer's supply, bills or meters.

But all SSE customers should have received a new Ovo Energy account number in their welcome email.
A spokesperson to Ovo previously told The Sun that all remaining SSE customers will be moved over to the parent brand by the end of January 2024.
However, the supplier has now completed the transition over two months earlier than originally planned.
If you've only just been switched to Ovo, you should have received a final SSE bill.

This will contain all the key information you'll need to keep a note of including your new Ovo Energy account number and a link to get started with your new online account.
Ovo originally acquired 3.5million of SSE's domestic users in January 2020 in a move which catapulted the brand to become part of the "Big Six".
However, it intends to close off a number of its subsidiary brands to ensure that it can provide all domestic energy customers with a similar offering.
The Sun revealed in April that it plans to shut down Boost, its prepayment meter brand, later this year.
We've asked Ovo Energy for an update on the progress of Boost's closure.
Ovo Energy was founded by Stephen Fitzpatrick in September 2009 and by 2017 provided energy tariffs to over 700,000 households.
The company now supplies 4.5million households with gas and electricity across the UK.
Since SSE plc disbanded its domestic energy arm its sole focus has been on power generation through the operation of several UK power stations.
Its SSE Renewables arm also builds and operates onshore and offshore wind farms across the UK and Ireland as well as running hydroelectric operations in Scotland.
Ovo Energy revealed details about the Warm Home Discount this week.
The company is set to pay thousands of customers a £150 automatic discount on their bills.
