Popular homeware shop & Dunelm rival closes down after 30 years of business – leaving customers devastated

A POPULAR homeware shop has closed it's doors for the final time after 30 years leaving customers devastated.

England At Home in Brighton was once dubbed a Dunelm rival, but sadly pulled the shutters down for good amid a string of high street store closures.

The owners said goodbye on Thursday and sent a sad farewell to their disappointed shoppers.

“We're retiring! Thank you, Brighton, and it's visitors for a very happy 30 years," they penned on .

“It is time for us to pursue other interests and enjoy a different pace of life.

"We are grateful to all our loyal customers and staff members, old and new.

“You have all helped us build England at Home into the thriving business it became. Well done all."

Their announcement was flooded with messages of support and sadness.

One devastated customer wrote: "You were my favourite shop by far on any weekend visit to Brighton.

"Sorry you’re closing, but good luck for whatever comes next."

Another agreed: "Such a shame its closing I use to get some great accessories from here, it will be missed, it seems like all the loving shops are closing down - Wilko, Debenhams, Pylones, etc."

"Nooooooo so gutted. Love this store and always headed there in my trips to Brighton, good luck for the future," commented a third.

It comes as UK high streets face several popular chains including M&Co and Paperchase, are closing down stores this year.

Huge homeware brand, Habitat is also set to disappear forever, with its last three standalone branches shutting.

Three shops in BrightonLeeds and White City's Westfield will close permanently.

Meanwhile, Habitat's sister brand Argos, also owned by Sainsbury's, is cutting dozens of stores this year.

Argos will shut all 34 stores in the Republic of Ireland on June 24.

Plus, a popular fashion brand, stocked at Marks and Spencer, has shut down a beloved a high street store.

Crew Clothing, in Tenterden, Kent, lowered the shutters permanently last weekend.

And, a fashion retailer, with 400 stores, confirmed another of its shops has closed.

New Look got rid of one of its branches in Bromsgrove this weekend following a string of closures.

While a beloved WHSmith shop in Crown Walk, Bicester, also shut its doors for the final time on August 30.
