Iceland customers who have one of the supermarket's bonus cards can get an extra £15 for free.

Shoppers already get £1 for every £20 they top-up, all year round.

But now they will get an extra cash boost in time for the Christmas season on top.

From today until Friday, November 3, shoppers who load £100 onto their bonus card will qualify for the cash.

The £15 bonus will be added by November 24, one month before Christmas Eve.

Customers can spend the cash in-store, online and via the app at Iceland and The Food Warehouse until Friday, December 23.

The bonus card can also be used at The Food Warehouse, which is part of Iceland.

With the extra on top of the usual bonus, it means if a customer were to add £100 before November 3, they could come away £20 better off in total - for absolutely free.

David Devany, Iceland's chief customer and digital officer said: "We understand that the cost-of-living crisis is not unique to certain times of the year, we’re now finding that families up and down the nation are facing a cost-of-Christmas crisis too.

"In fact, many Brits have already begun to budget and plan for the festive season, making our bonus card Christmas savings more important than it's ever been."

How does the Iceland Bonus Card scheme work?

Iceland's scheme rewards users for saving money for their shop and also gives access to exclusive discounts.

Each time you load money onto the card you are rewarded.

Cardholders can get £1 back for each £20 they transfer onto the card and you can win prizes and get a birthday gift.

Shoppers can sign up online for a digital card and download it through the app, or you can get a physical one by visiting your local store.

Lots of Iceland shoppers opt into this bonus scheme, more than 1 million people have downloaded the digital Bonus Card app.

Similar to the Tesco Clubcard scheme, Iceland's Bonus Card users can purchase products for a cheaper price than non-users.

But it's worth noting that any money you have can't be withdrawn, and can only be spent at Iceland.

Money saved onto the bonus card isn't protected by the Financial Service Compensation Scheme, like if you had money in a savings account with a bank.

Experts recommend putting the money in a high-interest savings account and adding it at the last minute to get the most out of your cash.

Consumer expert Andy Webb, of BeCleverWithYourCash.com, previously told The Sun: “It’s a double win. Your cash is protected in a savings account and you’ll earn interest on top.

“And when you swap it for the supermarket bonus, you’re then getting even more free cash.”
