We won £300k National Lottery jackpot and are thrilled… but we splashed the cash on very normal goodies

A LUCKY couple who scooped a £300,000 lottery jackpot have told how they splashed the cash on very normal goodies.

Doris Stanbridge and her husband Keith will receive £10,000 a month for 30 years after winning the National Lottery's Set For Life game.

Doris bought the ticket just days before she was set to go on an annual trip to Cornwall with her daughters in August.

Doris played the Lucky Dip game and the following Sunday she received a shocking email saying she was a winner.

She said: "I looked at it and said to Keith, ‘have I read that right? Does that say what I think it says? No, it can't be!’

“I rushed round to my son-in-law, who lives next door. I knocked on the door and practically shoved my phone in his face and asked him if it said what I thought it had said!

"He logged on to his National Lottery app and said ‘yes those are the numbers, there was one winner and it’s you!’”

But despite winning big - Doris and Keith didn’t go crazy when it came to spending the money.

The first thing the couple did after the win was buy a new bed and an airfryer.

Doris also plans on revamping their home - and wants to treat her family to a holiday abroad.

She explained: “It will be my grandson's first trip on an aeroplane. I have been looking at a villa in the country with a pool, and sunshine all the time!”

Doris won after matching all the winning numbers that night: 2, 11, 17, 30, 38 and Life Ball 3.

She added: “It still seems a bit strange when I think about the win and that I will get that money every month for thirty years. It gives me a reason to be around until I am 100!

“Getting that first payment was bizarre, it felt very strange to see that amount of money in my account."
