The dessert essential, which is used for a topping or filling, was popular amongst fans but clearly not popular enough.

Confectionery giant Nestle has slowly phased out the item since the beginning at 2023 and some still haven't come to terms with the loss.

Social media users have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their distress.

One wrote: "Come on Nestle ..do the right thing and reverse your decision to discontinue Carnation Thick Cream.

"You have ruined my family's trifle!!"

Another said: "Sorry, do you have anything I would use to replace the Nestle Carnation Extra Thick in the UK?

"Why the carnation extra thick has been discontinued?

"Did you know it can be used to make amazing desserts?"

A third posted: "Why have Nestle discontinued their Carnation Extra Thick Cream???? Acc so upset pls bring it back."

While another user said: "Is it still possible to buy Nestle Carnation Extra Thick cream in the UK?

"I've noticed that it's disappeared from my local supermarket shelves, and wonder if or when it will return."

Nestle responded to the posts with the sad news.

It said: "Sorry to have to give you disappointing news, unfortunately, Nestle Carnation Extra Thick cream has been discontinued from our range.

"It wasn't as popular as others in the range so it's been discontinued.

"We'll surely let the team know you'd like to see them back."

You used to be able to pick up a tin of the cream for just £1 at Tesco.

The company also encouraged fans to have a look at other products in its cream range for an alternative.

The news comes weeks after chocolate fans were left fuming when Cadbury scrapped individual sales of Buttons Treatsize packs.

The 14.4g party-bag favourites will only be available in multipacks from now on.

The 40g and 119g bags will remain for solo purchase in shops.

Plus, Costco has axed its giant chocolate stocking for Christmas this year and shoppers won't be impressed.

The stocking comes with a selection of chocolates and sweets for customers to feast on.

But it's not all bad news because Nestle has brought back a discontinued fan favourite after three years and shoppers can't get enough of it.
