I covered my privacy fence in solar panels so I don’t have to pay for electricity – people hate it
A CABBIE has told how he covered his garden’s privacy fence in solar panels - and now has cheap electricity for his cars and home.
Liam, from the Wirral, Liverpool, is saving hundreds of pounds in bills every month thanks to the .
The 4.25kw fence is paired with a 9.5Wh battery - which with the charge from the sun gives his cars and home cheap off-peak electricity.
It means he can run his home and electric car for just 7p per Kwh.
However, not everyone likes the giant black blocks which are tacked onto the fence.
Pictures posted on Facebook show the giant slabs being erected in Liam’s back garden.
The caption reads: “Uk's first taxi home solar fence.
“Private hire driver Liam based in the Wirral has now his own charging station at home.
“Happy charging Liam from your renewable solar fence provider.”
“We are now providing free energy to offset your night tarrif rate & now you can run your home off a 10kwh battery in the daytime.”

But many people think the look of the fence outweighs the benefits.
One person wrote: “Can't wait to see the kids playing footy in the garden haha.”
A second said: “Could they be any more subtle?”
However, Liam hit back at the haters saying: “My kids do play ball.
“I admit not a cricket ball football or tennis ball is fine they are made from Alloy.”
The Sun contacted Solar Fence for comment.
