Five cheap tips to beat hay fever symptoms so you can enjoy the warmer months
BLOODSHOT eyes, streaming nose, itchy throat – it must be hay-fever season.
Pollen reactions suck the fun out of the warmer months.
And popping allergy pills to see you through can be expensive.
Here are some cheaper steps you can take . . .
DAB FAB: One quick and effective move is to rub a little Vaseline around the edges and insides of your nostrils. The pollen sticks to the jelly and is stopped from entering your body.
GRAB YOUR SUNNIES: When the pollen count is high, sunglasses help to protect the eyes — especially wraparound ones.

PROTECT YOUR HOME: It feels a shame to close windows on lovely warm days, but this can help stop pollen from wafting into your home or office.
After you have been outside, changing clothes is an extra step to prevent the spread of allergens in your home.
And having a shower will help remove pollen from your skin and hair if you find you are having a reaction. Plus, the steam can help ease congestion.
DRESS NATURAL: Carolina Goncalves of online pharmacy Pharmica.co.uk advises: “Try to avoid wearing clothing made out of synthetic materials like polyester and acrylic that can attract and hold on to pollen.”

Instead, opt for natural materials such as cotton and linen. When the pollen is in the air, it can be a good idea to avoid drying laundry outside, to help keep it free from allergens.
ALOE ALOE: Dermatologist Dr Shaaira Nasir has teamed up with high-street chain The Body Shop to help pollen-proof skin and says: “High pollen levels can cause an allergic-type skin rash.”
The Body Shop recommends aloe vera gel — a natural antihistamine to soothe itching and irritation.
You could also try an aloe vera plant in your home to ease hay fever. It is one of the rare plants that produces oxygen 24 hours a day, improving air quality.
