Shoppers rushing to buy heated airer from Dunelm that costs just 3p an hour to run

SHOPPERS have been rushing out to buy a heated airer that costs just 3p an hour to use.

The heated ladder airer is on sale for £40 on Dunelm's website.

Bear in mind you'll have to pay a minimum £3.95 fee if you want it delivered to your home.

The airer comes with heated bars to dry your towels and clothes and can hold up to five kilos.

Dunelm claims the airer costs just 3p an hour to run.

That's based on the price of a kilowatt (kWh) of electricity costing 34p under the October 2022 price cap.

A number of shoppers have left reviews on the heated airers' product page on Dunelm's website full of praise.

One said: ";Excellent product for a small bathroom, keeps towels warm and dry, and also keeps the bathroom warm."

Another said: "It is small but it does the job!

"It does take 15 minutes to heat up but due to cost of living it has been useful to dry clothes and also to give off warmth when I am working."

A third customer added: "Great little airer for the price. Lightweight and mobile."

Of course, you should always shop around when looking at buying a product.

Just because one retailer is advertising theirs as the best, you might find the same one for cheaper elsewhere.

However, when we looked online there's nothing out there on the market currently that beats Dunelm's for price.

How much does it cost to run a heated airer?

Heated airers can be a cheaper alternative to turning on your radiators.

Plus, experts say they cost less to use than a tumble dryer.

It's seen shoppers scrambling to pick up the gadgets from stores like Lidl and Aldi.

But you might be wondering how much it costs to actually run them.

The higher the wattage on an appliance, the more it will cost to run per hour.

Based on the Energy Price Guarantee (EPG), running the Dunelm 90 watt heated ladder airer costs 3p an hour.

So, if you had it on for eight hours, it would cost 24p.

If you had it on for eight hours a day for 28 days, it would cost you £6.72.

Meanwhile, a 300w airer would cost 16p an hour to run under the current price cap.

So, if you had it on for eight hours, it would cost £1.28.

It's worth noting these prices will go up from April, when the EPG is raised.
