CHICKEN WINNER

I went out to buy fried chicken and came back £615,000 richer… here’s how my life changed forever

A HUNGRY man headed out to buy fried chicken late one night and returned home with £615,000 after winning the lottery on a whim.

The Maryland man, who goes by "Buzzsaw", was in for a huge surprise when he embarked on an evening chicken run on February 6.

Although a regular player, Buzzsaw said he had no intention of playing the Lottery's Multi-Match when he headed out for chicken to satisfy his cravings.

After arriving at the local convenience store he used some extra change in his pocket to purchase four tickets.

He headed home satisfied after playing the cheap games that cost him only £3.30 and having eaten his chicken.

However, Buzzsaw claims he had trouble sleeping and decided to take a closer look at his lottery tickets.

To his shock, the chicken-loving man realised he had just won £617,000 ($750,000).

He said: "I never won this kind of money before in my life.

"It was all about the chicken. I usually don't wake up at night."

The lucky man revealed that he will celebrate his big win by travelling to the mountains west of where he lives, and then buying a new home for himself and his son.

He said following his success, he will definitely keep playing.

Buzzsaw added: "I'm not giving up."

The local store where he purchased the successful ticket will receive an £823 ($1000) bonus for selling a jackpot-winning ticket.

Maryland Lottery said: "This is the first Multi-Match jackpot win of 2023. The game's jackpot was hit six times in 2022 and five times in 2021."

In the UK, the National Lottery issued warnings to players recently after three big jackpots lay unclaimed - they urged people to check their tickets before it was too late.

Even lottery winners might not be so lucky after a man took home £10 million from the National Lottery, but lost it all to his ex-wife and local football team.
