Lidl has made a major change to rewards – but shoppers need to be quick

LIDL has made a big change to its rewards scheme and it could see one customer win £10,000.

The discounter has added a new feature to its Lidl Plus app aimed at getting customers eating more fruit and veg.

The Fruit and Veg Stamp Card sees customers given a virtual stamp every time they spend £5 on fruit and veg in-store.

To get the stamps, you just have to scan your Lidl Plus app at the till.

Once they've collected four stamps they can enter themselves into a Prize Draw, but they have to do this by March 1, when the offer finishes.

Once in the draw, they can win one of 100,000 fruit and veg coupons and one shopper will be in line for a £10,000 cash prize.

Any winners will be told via email by March 10.

Anyone who wins a fruit and veg coupon can opt to donate £1 to Lidl's Community Fund instead.

For the full terms and conditions you should check out Lidl's website.

It comes after Lidl reduced the ply of its Florayl toilet paper, leaving shoppers frustrated.

Customers were rushing out to buy an energy-saving gadget from the retailer in January too.

What other supermarkets run rewards schemes?

Lidl isn't the only retailer that offers customers rewards for staying loyal.

Sainsbury's run its Nectar Card scheme where customers can earn points when they spend money on food, petrol or with partnering retailers including eBay and Dulux Decorator Centres.

You can get one point per £1 on all qualifying spends at Sainsbury's supermarket and online.

One litre of fuel is worth one point at its petrol stations too.

One Nectar Card point is worth 0.5p, so you have to get 200 Nectar points to get £1.

Once you've collected enough points you can turn them into vouchers to be spent on your next food shop.

Tesco has it's Clubcard scheme, where customers can get exclusive discounts on a number of products.

You also get one point every time you spend £1 in-store or online.

You also get one point for every £2 spent on fuel.

You need a minimum of 150 points to request a voucher.

Once you have enough points, you can turn them into vouchers worth the face value to spend in store at Tesco.

Or, you can triple their worth to spend at reward partners, including restaurants like Pizza Express.

Asda Rewards allows customers to collect "Asda pounds" every time they buy Star Products and complete Missions in store.

Shoppers get cashback on their shopping when they buy certain own-brand and big brand products.

One perk is that cashback is personalised, with rewards offered on the items you're most likely to buy.

How can I save on my supermarket shop?

Making a list before you head out to do your food shopping is always a good start.

You'll be less likely to make any rash purchases or be enticed in by any offers.

You could try "downshifting" too, which involves going for supermarkets' own brand goods.

Martin Lewis says the trick could save you around 30% on your yearly shopping bill.

Meanwhile, checking how much a product costs based on quantity could save you some money.

You might be tempted to opt for a bigger box or packaging because you think you will get more.

But you should always check the price per kg/lb/litre so you're making a like-for-like decision.

Plus, a lot of supermarkets run loyalty schemes, where you can build up points to spend on a later shop.

For example, Sainsbury's has its Nectar Card and Tesco has its Clubcard.

In other news, a major high street retailer could "disappear from the high street" within weeks.

Plus, Asda shoppers are rushing to buy a winter essential for 60p that'll keep you warm.
