Butcher selling Britain’s ‘most expensive turkey crowns’ for eye-watering sum
A BUTCHER is selling what could be Britain’s most expensive Christmas turkey crowns — for £220.
The 5kg free range birds are fed a diet of herbs to maximise flavour. They are then left to hang for ten days after being dry plucked.
Thomas Joseph Butchery sells the 11lb turkey, which serves ten, with 24 pigs in blankets, sausage meat and chicken stock.
But outraged mum Karen Stocker, 45, from Plumstead, South East London, said: “I don’t know why anyone would want to spend that amount of money just on one part of the day.”
Tom Pereira, owner of Thomas Joseph Butchery, based in Brentwood, Essex, said: “We’re not on our own, many butchers supply these types of turkeys too.
"The difference between ours and others is they are hung for ten to 14 days which makes them a different product to the ones you find in the supermarket.”
