EasyJet’s month-long winter holiday to Egypt costs less than average UK household bills

EASYJET has launched a month-long winter holiday to Egypt costing less than average UK household bills.

The £650 per person package — billed as an “Escape the UK” break — is all-inclusive so food and drinks are covered.

It is said to be £227 cheaper than average winter bills for the same period.

Rent, transport, utilities and food costs over 28 days totals £877 per person — making the easyJet offer 26 per cent less.

Financial expert Lynn Beattie said: “For those who could viably rent their homes and work abroad, the new package deal by easyJet holidays poses a very attractive offer.”

And in a further enticement, temperatures at the five-star Stella Gardens Resort in Hurghada are around 20C in December — compared to a chilly 6C here.

News of the deal, which goes on sale today, comes as research shows half of Brits are considering a winter holiday to avoid higher heating bills.

The National Grid has warned of the possibility of rolling blackouts and powercuts being a regular occurrence across the country during the cold nights of January and February if electricity generators run out of fuel.

And energy costs are set to go as high as £5,000 a year in April when the Government’s Energy Bill Relief Scheme comes to an end.

Matt Callaghan from easyJet yesterday said: “Yes, comparably, our new 28-day winter escape is cheaper than staying at home this year.

“With a growing number of Brits now searching online to see if they can escape abroad this winter, we knew we needed to try to provide consumers with a solution.”
