LOOKING for a new job? Christmas has come early.
The number of festive vacancies is up 244 per cent on this time last year.
Whether you want to top up your income to beat the cost of living crisis, switch careers or return to work, seasonal roles offer new skills and can boost your CV.
One in five temporary Christmas workers are hired permanently, so it’s a great way to make contacts and try out a new sector.

TESCO is taking on 15,000 temps. The chain’s people director, Rachel Bushby, said: “This is a good opportunity for anyone looking to boost their income or who needs a stepping stone back in to work.”

Machine operator Mehboob Ismail, 50, lost his job when the pandemic hit and took a Christmas temp role at his local Cheetham Hill superstore in Manchester.
It became permanent and he now works in the produce department. He said: “My advice to anyone considering taking up a festive job is just give it a go.

GROTTO'S A GO-GO
SANTAS are in huge demand with plenty of grotto places to fill.
Vacancies for Father Christmases across the UK are up 183 per cent on last year and 49 per cent higher than in 2019, according to hiring platform Indeed.
Roles for Santa’s elves are also 96 per cent higher than the same time last year. There are currently 203 Santa jobs and 207 elf roles.

CHRISTMAS spending leads to a spike in demand for customer service jobs, with firms recruiting for the rush now.
FM Outsource is hiring 400 customer service advisors for both remote and office-based roles, supporting household names including Hotel Chocolat, FedEx and Pret A Manger.
Martin Brown, CCO of FM Outsource said: “Many of our current senior management team started their career with us as customer services advisors.
