High street shop announces closure of stores for Queen’s Funeral

ZARA will close all its stores as a mark of respect on the day of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral next Monday.

Several leading retailers and supermarkets have already announced plans to shut their big stores for the Queen’s funeral next Monday.

The longest-reigning British monarch died on Thursday at the age of 96.

Her Majesty’s state funeral has been declared a bank holiday and several major retailers have also decided to shut up shop next week, out of respect.

Zara operates 60 stores across the country and employs over 3,000 people.

The firm operates 52 stores in England, five in Scotland, two in Wales and one in Northern Ireland.

Zara recently made a huge change to its online return policy which means customers now pay more.

Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Waitrose, Lildl, Asda and Tesco are to close the doors of their larger stores on the day Queen Elizabeth II will be laid to rest.

It is thought that large supermarkets will shut roughly between the hours of 10am and 2pm.

However, smaller convenience stores will remain open, in part to ensure that the thousands of people expected to gather to watch the funeral will be able to buy water and food for the day.

Kwik Fit, Halfords and Toolstation will also closes all their stores on Monday, September 19.
