The rare Kew Gardens 50p often sells for much more than its original value - we spoke to one expert from The Royal Mint about how to spot a valuable coin.

This one on eBay sold for 420 times its original value - which will come as a big boost to the seller as the cost of living crisis takes hold.

The coins were originally released in 2009 and only 210,000 were manufactured, making them a rare beast.

It's no wonder then, that the coin attracted such a pretty price and had almost 50 bidders trying to get their hands' on it.

Previous listing of the same coin have sold for nearly £180 and one even fetched £250.

They look just like any normal 50p coin, except this specific coin has the famous Kew Gardens design on the reverse, featuring the Chinese Pagoda.
