Greggs extends opening hours in 300 shops as customers face price rises

GREGGS has extended its opening hours across 300 shops - but shoppers have been stung with price increases.

The bakery giant announced hundreds of its shops across the country now stay open until 8pm in its latest financial results.

It added that it will keep even more of its shops open until later by the end of 2022.

It didn't confirm how many - or which - branches would have their opening hours extended, but we've asked for more information and will update this article when we know more.

But fans have been stung by price hikes on their favourite snacks this year after Greggs raised prices TWICE.

Pastry fans were left disappointed when the firm upped the price of its sausage rolls by 5p in January.

That was part of a wider increase that saw some products rise by 10p.

In March it forewarned of further "necessary" increases due to higher staff, energy and material costs.

It comes as inflation now stands at an eye-watering 9.4%, causing prices from food, fuel and energy to bump up.

Greggs also announced today that fans will be able to create their own sandwiches in a huge menu shake-up.

It said that it will trial the option for customers to customise their sandwich fillings later this year.

And it also has plans to open 150 new stores by the end of the year.

The company is thinking about increasing stores to 3,000 "in the coming years".
