Amazon launches price match with Tesco Clubcard and new same-day delivery service
AMAZON has launched a same-day food delivery service offering the same price as Britain’s biggest supermarket.
Its Tesco Clubcard Price Match is the latest bid by the online giant to claim a bigger share of the UK’s food market.
Amazon was recently ranked as providing the cheapest food basket, 78p less than Tesco.
It matches Clubcard promotions on its Amazon Fresh site and brands include Coca-Cola, Walkers, and Birds Eye, as well as upmarket groceries from local producers.
The service starts from today in London, parts of the South East, Leeds, Sheffield, Portsmouth, Liverpool, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle.
“We know that our customers are looking for ways to save on their weekly grocery shopping,” said Russell Jones, Amazon Fresh Director.

“This is one way that we’re helping customers get great value and convenience with groceries delivered at home with Amazon Fresh.
“Improving our shopping experience and giving Amazon Fresh customers even more for their money are key priorities for us.”
Tesco Clubcards are held by more than 20 million households to get lower prices of up to 50 per cent on goods.
The move by Amazon to match Tesco on price comes after the supermarket launched an Aldi price match scheme on 650 goods as part of its mission to stop shoppers ditching it for the discounters.
Amazon Fresh two-hour deliveries are free for Prime customers if they spend over £40.
