SUPERMARKETS have been hit by a Walkers crisp shortage due to an IT glitch.

Shortages online have been spotted on the Tesco and Asda website.

Walkers crisps are missing from supermarket shelves because of tech issues

The UK's biggest crisp seller has blamed the supply issue on an IT error, which meant that supplies have been limited.

When The Sun checked today we found some gaps online.

Just under a third of the crisp giant's stock are available online on the Tesco website after the error.

The Asda website shows eight varieties out of over 70 are unavailable for delivery.

Tesco is one of the supermarkets affected by the Walkers crisps shortages

Shoppers first spotted gaps on shelves last week, but not all supermarket branches are affected.

This means that shoppers will still be able to find their favourite flavour of crisps in shops.

A Walker's spokesperson said: "We experienced a short-term IT issue which led to the supply of our crisps and snacks being more limited than usual.

"Availability of our brands in shops remains good so crisp fans can continue to enjoy their favourites snacks.”

It comes months after the crisp retailer was hit by shortages, leaving shoppers without their favourite snack.

The shortage was caused by an IT systems upgrade which disrupted supplies.

And Heinz temporarily stopped supplying Tesco with most of its products following a pricing battle.

Shelves were left bare following the bust-up, which was rectified last week.
