TEA-RRIFIC

McVities makes major change to digestive biscuits this week – and some fans will LOVE it

MCVITIES has introduced a new healthier digestive biscuit – which won’t crumble when dunked into cuppa.

The new recipe – called Wholesense Digestives – contains 30 per cent less sugar and 50 per cent more fibre than a standard digestive.

McVities has introduced a new healthier digestive biscuit – which won’t crumble when dunked into cuppa.

Bosses trialled the new formulation on hundreds of biscuit lovers to ensure the treats taste the same when dipped into tea.

Packs hit store shelves this week costing £1.59 for 300g.

McVities claims the new recipe retains the biscuit’s “distinctive, salty-sweet flavour”.

The snacks giant first tried to make the tea time treats less fattening in 2008 and 2009, splashing out £6m to halve their saturated fat content.

But after a string of consumer complaints that the biscuits were too crumbly and ‘less dunkable’.

The brand switched back to the classic recipe in 2013.
