To bag a cheap and cheerful lunch, you need to sign-up to Co-op’s free loyalty scheme online.

There is a £1 joining fee, which Co-op states is to cover the cost of having a share in the company as it’s owned by its members.

Members get benefits including personalised discounts as well as earning 2p back for every £1 spent on Co-op branded products.

Once this has added up you can spend your hard earned pennies in store.

The Co-op isn’t the only store that has increased its meal deal prices in recent weeks.

Tescos, Morrisons and Boots have all increased their prices as well.

At Tesco, non-Clubcard members pay £3.50 for the sandwich, snack and drink combo - but it's just £3 for the deal if you've got a Clubcard to hand.

Boots' meal deal increased to £3.59 or £4.19 in London. It's gone up 20p from its previous price of£3.39 and £3.99 respectively.
