THOUSANDS of households on benefits will see their payment dates change around the August bank holiday.
Those on Universal Credit or other benefits often see their usual payments land in their account earlier than normal.
The Government does this to ensure no one is left waiting for payments over the bank holiday.
But if you don't know about the rule, you might be caught unaware.
Here, we explain what you need to know.
When will I get my payment?
Households which would have got their payment on Monday, August 26, should have been paid on Friday, August 23.

Official government guidance states: "Benefits are usually paid straight into your bank, building society or credit union account.
"If your payment date is on a weekend or a bank holiday you'll usually be paid on the working day before."
Does a bank holiday only affect those on Universal Credit?
The change can impact individuals claiming a number of benefits, including Universal Credit.
Those on the following benefits may also see payments land earlier.

Will my payment amount change?
The only thing that changes is when you get paid.
Your benefit amount won't change if it is paid early, unless there's been a change in circumstances which impacts how much you are due.
Of course, the amount you get depends on which benefits you are currently claiming.
If you think you're eligible for benefits and missing out, then we've explained how to check which benefits you could claim.
How will it affect me?
Getting paid early will mean you need to plan your month to ensure you don't overspend.
Make sure to factor this into your budget for May and June.
If you don't receive your benefit payment one working day before the August bank holiday, contact the DWP directly.
Will other benefit payment dates change?
There are three more bank holidays before the end of this year which could impact when you receive your benefits.

Are you missing out on benefits?
YOU can use a benefits calculator to help check that you are not missing out on money you are entitled to
Charity works out what you could get.
Entitledto's determines whether you qualify for various benefits, tax credit and Universal Credit.
MoneySavingExpert.com and charity StepChange both have benefits tools powered by Entitledto's data.
You can use to determine which benefits you could receive and how much cash you'll have left over each month after paying for housing costs.
Your exact entitlement will only be clear when you make a claim, but calculators can indicate what you might be eligible for.
