ASDA, one of the UK's leading supermarkets, is known for its fantastic selection of products and food.
Over the festive season, they’ll be running on reduced hours to give their hardworking team a well-deserved break. Here’s everything you need to know.
Asda during New Year’s
Asda stores will be open around the country on both New Years Eve and New Years Day.
On New Year’s Eve, stores will remain open from 7am to 7pm.
However, they will close early on New Year's Day, at 6pm.
Shoppers are advised to use the store locator tool on Asda's website to check their local shop's opening hours.

It’s also worth checking if your local 24-hour shop will stay open.
Alternatively, you can check the Asda app for the opening times of any shop.
The supermarket chain only closed its doors for one day over Christmas.
The retailer offered a unique range of items over the festive period, and even included Christmas recipes on their website.

Shutting up shop
Many big supermarkets will either close or operate with reduced hours on New Year’s Day.
Marks and Spencer and Aldi are the only ones closing completely, giving their staff a well-deserved day off.
If you're planning a grocery run, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Co-op, and Waitrose will be open, but with reduced hours—so it’s a good idea to check your local store’s schedule.
For those diving into DIY projects in the new year, B&Q will be open on January 1, 2025, though with shorter hours.
On the flip side, stores like Home Bargains will remain closed.
With many shops prioritising staff rest on January 1, make sure to double-check timings ahead of time for a smooth and stress-free start to 2025.
Asda's incredible history
Asda was originally a butchers owned by the Squith family in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
In the 1920s, they expanded their business to seven butchers in their area before partnering with a group of dairy farmers.
The shop became Associated Dairies and Farm Stores Ltd and quickly became a leading UK supermarket.
In 1999, Asda was acquired by Walmart in a £6.7billion deal.
