"As many hospitality companies have indicated, there is considerable pressure on costs, especially in respect of labour, food and energy,"; he said.

"Repairs are also running at a higher rate than before the
pandemic."

The budget boozer already upped prices in March, adding 10p to the cost of a pint across the UK.

Punters in London have to pay an extra 20p following the price hike.

The increase is around 4% in the capital, and 2% across the rest of the country.

Restaurants, pubs and shops have been forced to hike prices for customers due to rising business costs.

Greggs raised the price of sausage rolls in January and has since warned that further increases could be on the horizon.

'Spoons said its sales are improving and it expects to break even this year as it gave a financial update this morning.

The company added that it has closed a total of 14 pubs since the beginning of the financial year.

Last year, Wetherspoon slashed the price of its popular steak and curry club deals on certain days of the week.

Customers can save up to £1.60 when they order one of the offers - but only on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

It's not the only major change at the chain over the last year.

In 2021 the firm announced it would axe pints of John Smiths and Strongbow from the menu as part of a shake-up of its drinks options.
