The UK's biggest supermarket issues a voucher worth £1.50 for every 150 points collected.

Today it warned that customers must use vouchers first issued in May 2020 before May 31 2022.

It estimates there are £17million worth of points sitting accounts.

Tesco also reminded shoppers about how to maximise their points.

Customers can use vouchers in-store and online to knock money off their weekly shopping bill or cut the cost of filling up their car with fuel.

However, there is a way to swap vouchers for upto three times the value using the Clubcard app or website.

Customers can check the expiry date of their vouchers using the Tesco website or app.

Alessandra Bellini, Tesco chief customer officer, said: “We know it’s tough right now, which is why we want to show customers all the ways we can help them spend less, and leave them with more money in their pockets – to manage the rising cost of living, or to treat themselves and their loved ones.”

Vouchers are collected when you shop with the supermarket and can then be used to pay for food, clothes and fuel at Tesco in store or online.

You get one point for every £1 spent - or one point for every £2 on fuel- and 150 points is equivalent to a £1.50 voucher.

Many shoppers choose to spend their coupons with Tesco's reward partners to get better value for money.

Points are worth up to three times more when you redeem them with one of the supermarket's partners.

Shoppers also get discounts on selected items when using their Clubcard.
