It's to help households battling against a crippling cost of living crisis - and is available to anyone living in properties falling under council tax bands A-D.

Mr Sunak said payments would be made from April 1 - it comes directly from your local council.

But exactly when you get it varies depending on where you live.

Households living in the Royal Borough of Greenwich in London are already seeing the money enter their accounts.

The council's official announced this weekend: "We've started making payments to residents to help with energy costs".

However, that's if you typically pay your council tax with direct debit - because the local authority will already have your bank account information on file.

Those who don't will receive a letter from the local authority next week informing them of the next steps.

Households living in the Royal Borough of Greenwich catchment area aren't the only ones who have seen the £150 help land in their accounts.

Those in the West Midlands started to receive their £150 council tax rebates on Thursday.

Residents in Hull lucked out earlier than most when they saw the cash enter their bank accounts earlier this week.

But other households could see delays lasting until September before they see their money roll in.

That's because a number of councils have warned of delays to dishing out the payments.

The reasons vary - from IT issues, to sorting out how best to pay the rebate.

When will I get paid?

If you are not living in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and haven't received your cash, there are ways you can check when you'll be paid.

You should check who your local council is by using the council finder tool online.

More information about the rebate and when it will be paid should be listed on your authority's website.

If it's not, then it's worth ringing up and asking for more details.

Not all local authorities have confirmed how it will be paid, so you might have to wait.

Some will still let you sign up to pay by direct debit to get the grant sooner.

If you don't pay by direct debit, your council should list more information on what to do in order to get the cash.
