CRACKING DEAL

Lidl has slashed the price of Creme Eggs to just 87p and shoppers are stocking up on the bargain Easter treats

BUDGET supermarket Lidl has slashed the price of Creme Eggs to just 87p for a pack of five - and shoppers are stocking up.

Those looking to satisfy their sweet tooth for a fraction of the cost have been sweeping the shelves post-Easter.

As the cost of food continues to rise, nabbing lower prices is more important than ever.

Knowing the right time to do your shopping can come in very handy if you're looking to pinch the pennies.

And those who waited for the bank holiday weekend to end to grab Easter goodies have noticed a massive drop in prices.

A pack of five 40g Creme Eggs before the Easter weekend would cost you around £3, depending on where you shop.

But now, eagle-eyed shoppers have spotted the choc treats for 87p a box at Lidl - a massive discount of around 71%.

That works out to a cost of just 17.4p per Creme Egg when you buy them in the multi-pack.

But stock is unlikely to last long, as chocoholics have been snapping up the bargain buys.

One person posted their choc victory on the Facebook group, , which is a space for shoppers to share deals they've spotted.

The user uploaded a photo of six boxes of Creme Eggs stored in her fridge.

She captioned it: "Is anyone a Creme Egg fan like myself? There's boxes of 5 Creme Eggs in Lidl’s for 87p... I couldn’t resist."

The post amassed almost 300 likes and 470 comments, with someone commenting: "Yep, picked up few packs in my local store today."

Another shared that Farmfoods is selling boxes of six for £1, which works out slightly cheaper at 16.7p an egg.

It seems that many supermarkets are slashing the costs of Easter treats to get rid of remaining stock.

We noticed stores like Morrisons and Tesco selling leftover Easter eggs with up to 50% off.

At Morrisons, shoppers can grab a Galaxy Enchanted large Easter egg for £1.99, down from £3.49.

Meanwhile, the Buttermilk vegan Orange chocolate egg is £3, down from £6 at Tesco.

But note that these offers are only likely to be in-store and while stocks last.

But before you take a trip to one, check whether there are any other deals available online for better prices.

And there's more than just reduced Easter eggs in stores.

One shopper is hooked on buying yellow sticker goods after grabbing a chicken for just 43p.

Another way to save your pennies is to buy own-branded products. We tried all the supermarket hot chocolate powders and a bargain brand tastes better than Cadbury’s.
