If you're considering sprucing up the garden during the hot weather this Bank Holiday weekend, it's worth checking when you'll get the best deal.

According to research for The Sun, by Idealo, you could save more than £200 just by waiting a few weeks to make a purchase.

But other items are actually cheaper now and will go up in price during the summer.

We looked at price data from last spring and summer to find out when garden must-haves will be cheapest this year.

Bear in mind that just because it was cheaper last year doesn't mean it definitely will be in 2022.

But it is a good indication of roughly when stores start to discount stocks.

If there's a particular item you've got your eye on, keep checking back to see if the price has changed or if it's in the sale.

To get the best price it's a good idea to shop around before you make a purchase.

You might be able to find a similar item for less at a different shop.

The analysis of price data from 2021 shows that garden furniture sets were most expensive in April last year.

The average price hit £516 on April 12, but plummeted to £376 in July - a difference of £140.

So you could make big savings if you don't need a new set for a few months.

Similarly, slide, swing and climbing frame sets are cheaper if you wait until the end of summer.

It will cost you around £431 on average in April, but just £281 on August 24, the research showed.

While that's a big saving of £156, it does mean the frame wouldn't get much use during the school summer holidays.

So you'll have to weigh up the potential savings with when you actually need the product.

But you don't have to wait until the end of summer to make big savings.

The analysis found that a trampoline was £231 cheaper on May 10 compared to April 14 in 2021.

You could save £78 by buying a BBQ in May, as it was £300 last year compared to £378 in April.

The exact price you pay will depend on the size and quality of your chosen item, where you buy it from and whether there are any sales on.

Demand from other shoppers could also impact the price.
