From Mars’ cheap and cheerful classic to M&M’s quirkiest yet – we test all the Easter eggs to find best value for money

EASTER eggs come in all shapes and sizes — but as we prepare to indulge, which ones pack the most chocolate for your money?

But beware — few Easter eggs give you the same value.

Martyn James, consumer expert for The Sun’s Squeeze Team, says: “They are the ultimate in ‘all style, no substance’.

“Check the weight of the egg when buying, and don’t be fooled by flashy packaging which implies there are loads of goodies inside — you may well be disappointed.”

We looked at some of this year’s best-selling eggs and worked out in each case what you are paying for 100g of chocolate.

A Mars offering was the easiest on the pocket, at £1.20 per 100g.

Some supermarket eggs were also good buys — including Asda’s Extra Special, Extra Thick Honeycomb Pretzel and Almond Milk Chocolate Egg at £1.25 per 100g. 

But a luxury one from Hotel Chocolat is a whopping £7.50 per 100g.
