Wetherspoons hikes price of a pint at all pubs across the UK

WETHERSPOONS customers will have to pay more to enjoy a pint as the pub chain has hiked its prices.

It has reportedly added 10p to prices in most areas of the UK but Londoners will pay an extra 20p for each drink.

The increase is around 4% in the capital, and 2% across the rest of the country.

'Spoons upped the prices at the beginning of March.

A Wetherspoons spokesperson told : "Occasionally Wetherspoon does increase the price of its drinks. We always aim to keep our prices as competitive as possible.

"Prices on drinks in the majority of our pubs have increased by an average 10p from Tuesday March 1, with an increase of 20p in pubs in and around London.

"This represents an average two per cent increase in the majority of Wetherspoon pubs and four per cent in pubs in and around London.

"We believe that our drinks offer still represents great value-for money."

The Sun has contacted Wetherspoons for further comment.

Meanwhile, Wetherspoons has slashed the price of its popular steak and curry club deals on certain days of the week.

Customers can save up to £1.60 when they order one of the offers - but only on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

It's not the only major change at the chain in recent months.

In November the firm announced it would axe pints of John Smiths and Strongbow from the menu as part of a shake-up of its drinks options.

It came as Budweiser Brewing Group signed up as its biggest supplier, ending Wetherspoon's 41-year partnership with Heineken.

That means Budweiser, Stella Artois, Corona, Leffe Blonde and Bud Light, as well as Bathtub Gin, Bud Light Seltzer and Mike’s Hard Seltzer are now available at all 'Spoons across the UK.

Russian beer has been removed from the menu in light of the country's invasion of Ukraine.

The pub chain cut prices last year, with some pints on sale for just 99p between November 2021 and February 28 this year.
