DRIVERS can get 7p off a litre of fuel at Morrisons for a limited time.

The discount comes just as petrol prices hit a record high of 148p a litre amid the cost of living crisis.

That means the discount is the same as around 5% off the cost of the average litre of fuel.

But every little helps, as Brits grapple with soaring costs from energy, to food prices, on top of the sky-high fuel costs too.

Morrisons is stepping in to help with the cost of getting from A to B, by giving customers money off the price of fuel.

But there is a catch. You'll have to spend at least £40 on shopping at the supermarket to get the discount.

Customers will get a voucher for 7p off per litre of petrol or diesel at the till once they've finished their shop.

But there are a couple of catches to be aware of.

The deal is only available in-store, so you won't get the voucher if you spend online.

And not all purchases count - any spending on items including tobacco, lottery products, gift vouchers or stamps, for example, will not be eligible towards the £40.

And there's not long to take advantage of the offer either - it runs until February 27.

You redeem the voucher at any of Morrisons 339 petrol stations, excluding Morrisons Daily forecourts.

You can use its store to find your nearest forecourt.

The deal will be welcomed by motorists who have seen petrol prices hit a new record high of 148p a litre.

But drivers are being urged not to panic buy fuel.

Stockpiling and panic purchases saw forecourts run empty last year, amid fears of shortages.

Other ways to cut petrol costs

Despite Morrisons' discount, you might find that another garage closer to you has cheaper or similar prices.

With that in mind, you shouldn't trek all the way to the supermarket just because it's got the money off, as you might make a better saving elsewhere.

Driving further to get cheaper fuel often wipes out any savings you make per litre.

The website  allows you to do 20 free searches on petrol stations near you to see which have the cheapest prices.
