Seven top deals on children’s toys – from Argos to B&M
KIDS cost us time, energy and money, with playtime getting particularly expensive.
Data from toy subscription service Whirli shows 25 million Christmas toys are neglected by this point in the year. That’s a lot of wasted money.
Play down that price with my toy-tally great tips . . .
BUY BIG: Bulk shopping during sale time is one of the best ways to pick up bargains, and there are still plenty of clearance sales on. Get two toys for £16 at B&M and check the Argos.co.uk clearance section. I discovered Designafriend dolls from £2.25 and a 1,000-piece Disney puzzle for just £5.33. Also, always buy last season’s toys instead of this season’s. They won’t notice the difference!
LITTLE WINS: Head to thetoyshop.com and you will find a “toys under £10” section which can be useful when looking to add to that toy basket. Poundtoy.com is also a top Savers’ favourite, with prices starting from as little as 50p and three-for-two offers a regular feature. Many Savers love this as a way to fill stockings in the run-up to Christmas. Start stashing them now to save cash.
SECOND HAND: Car boot sales are back in action. They offer an eco-friendly and purse-friendly way to get rid of clutter while making a bit of cash. Try putting sets of toys in tubs for a bulk price or try your own “three for a fiver” offer to pull in punters.
SUPERMARKET SWEEP: This week’s Aldi SpecialBuys include science-based toy sets and even Elsa dolls. Big kids will like the Mitre footballs, £8.99 each, when they start from £12 at mitre.com.
RENT-A-TOY: Whirli is a toy subscription service from £9.99 per month, which gives you tokens worth £80 to spend on toys. When you send the toys back, you get back the same number of tokens so you can order something else. It is environmentally friendly and a great way to extend the life of your toy box without spending too much.
