Full list of areas set to benefit MOST from £150 council tax refund – are you on there?
MILLIONS of Brits will get a £150 council tax refund, with some areas of the country set to receive more support.
The rebates will be given to struggling families living in properties in council tax bands with the lowest bills.
The Treasury yesterday announced the boost for everyone on bands A to D as an extra measure of support for those on the low and mid incomes.
The rebate will be on your 2022/23 council tax bill.
During a press conference last night, Chancellor Rishi Sunak said government measures would cover around half of the price cap increase.
The £150 council tax rebate will not need to be repaid by households.
We explain which regions will get the most from the scheme.
Which regions will benefit the most from the council tax refund?
Around 80% of households will be eligible for the help, Mr Sunak said yesterday.
As it's based on property values, regions with a higher proportion of lower value houses will benefit the most.
For example, in the north east, 1.1million of the 1.3million properties will be eligible for help, according to the latest available figures.
In total 2.9million homes in the north west will get support, out of 3.4million properties.
There are 2.5million residential properties in Yorkshire and the Humber - and 2.2million of those will get the discount.
In the east midlands and west midlands there are 2.1million and 2.6million homes respectively.
Of those, 1.8million and 2.2million will get the discount.
Meanwhile, in London, there are 3.7million households and 2.5million will get the £150 refund.
And 2.8million families in the south east will get the money off, out of 4million homes, and in the south west 2.1million out of 2.6million will benefit from the help.
