Pokemon cards on sale for more than £1.2million – could yours make you a millionaire?
POKEMON cards are on sale for more than £1.2 million as fans have been urged to check their collections.
The Japanese video game, made popular in the 90s, made a resurgence during lockdown and now enthusiasts could be sitting on stacks of cards from the show equalling sums of up to seven figures.
Pokemon was launched as a Gameboy game in 1996 and trading cards followed in the same year.
Gamers take the role of a Pokemon trainer and use their characters to battle against each other.
A pack of cards costs around £4 and typically comes with five characters that have a range of strengths you can use to battle against others similar to Top Trumps.
As well as a fun game, Pokemon cards have also become a collector's item.
Now financial website k have analysed all the Pokemon cards sold on eBay to see which ones are the most valuable.
The site concluded that the most expensive card on sale goes for around £1.2 million, but plenty are changing hands for tens of thousands of pounds.

Money.co.uk finance expert Salman Haqqi said: "Pokémon cards have rapidly grown as a popular alternative investment.
“The nostalgia combined with the iconic characters have certainly recaptured the imagination of many people - so much so, they are willing to spend thousands, if not millions to ‘catch them all’."
According to the website here are the most valuable cards to look out for in your collection.
Pikachu - £1.2million
The ‘Japanese Old Back Pokémon Trophy Card NO.2 Neo Spring Battle PSA 9 Pikachu’ is listed on eBay for a mouth-watering price.
Kangaskhan - £350,000
Secon on the list is the 'PSA 10 Trophy Kangaskhan Parent & Child Tournament 1998' card – which sellers are pricing at over £300,000.
Blastoise and Venusaur - £185,868
EBay sellers are asking for almost £200,000 for two separate cards - a '1st Edition Japanese Base Set No Rarity Blastoise 1996 PSA 10 Mint' and the '1st Edition Japanese Base Set No Rarity Venusaur 1996 PSA 10 Mint'.
Rayquaza - £73,062
For the same price as some UK properties, Pokémon fans can snap up an 'EX Deoxys # 107 Gold Star Rayquaza Holo PSA 10 Card'.
Ivysaur - £54,797
Squeezing into the top five is the rare 'PSA 10 ITALIAN Ivysaur #30 1st Edition GEM 10' card - valued at just under £55,000.
POKEMAN POINTERS
Although many Pokeman cards are genuinely worth a pretty penny, it is important to lookout for fakes.
YouTube influencer Logan Paul revealed in 2020 that a Pikachu Illustrator card he owned - that was believed to be worth $2 million - was actually a fake.
Experts have since said that buyers should check colours and verify cards with other collectors or valuers.
This includes holographic and first edition cards which are typically worth extra.
Elsewhere, if you were never into collection Pokemon cards, chances are some of your other toys could also be worth a tidy sum.
My Little Pony, Barbie and Game Boy toys have previously sold for up to £1,200 on eBay.
