Wetherspoons accused of copying Nando’s as it adds peri peri chicken to the menu
WETHERSPOONS has added peri peri chicken to its menu in a move that has seen it criticised for copying Nando's.
The pub chain has been accused of ripping off Nando's signature dish by introducing the new items.
Wetherspoon said the chicken, served on the bone, comes with a lemon and herb glaze with coleslaw and a garlic and herb dip.
There's also a hot and spicy Naga chilli and citrus option, with coleslaw and Sriracha sauce.
It's similar to Nando's flavour choices, which include mild, lemon and herb, medium and hot.
Wetherspoon also offers a choice of chips, spicy rice or salad as a side, which is a shortened but similar options list to Nando's.
Customers can add extras to their Spoons' meals, from five chicken wings as well as spicy chip seasoning.
Chicken fans took to social media to point out the similarity to Nando's food.

On customer wrote on Twitter: "Wetherspoon's is essentially lifting Nando's entire aesthetic."
In a Tweet to Nando's another said: "I didn't know you were doing chicken in Wetherspoons now."
"You’ve been ripped to shreds here by Wetherspoons," another joked.
The prices are different, though, as Wetherspoon's option is cheaper than the original.
At some Spoon's pubs you can get half a chicken with sides and a drink for just £7.99 - although prices will vary depending on your location.
In comparison, half a chicken without a drink at Nandos will cost you £12.45.
Wetherspoon’s senior food development manager Matt Elsdon, said: “ We strive to offer our customers the widest choice of meals.
“We believe the char-grilled chicken dishes will be a great addition to the food offering in our pubs.”
The Sun has contacted the pub chain for further comment.
Wetherspoons recently changed its drinks menu and axed Strongbow and John Smith from its pubs.
In November it also extended its 99p drinks offer for a further three months.
Pubgoers can tuck into the chain's Christmas menu including a brie and bacon burger.
