MCDONALD'S workers are revealing their secrets to get the best out of your fast food order.
With everything from how to get the freshest fries to bargain Big Mac's, here are the seven tips to help you save money and take full advantage of your dinner...
In an AskReddit thread, McDonald's workers were asked to reveal the secrets they learned while on the job, telling users how to get the most from their meals and when the best time of day for ordering is.
One worker said that if you want the freshest breakfasts, don't bother after 10:30. They said: "Never get the breakfast menu after 10:30 or 11.
We start the lunch menu then, so if you, for example, got a sausage egg muffin at noon, the muffin, sausage, and egg will have been sitting in the reheating cabinet for…an hour and a half.
We only toss the last breakfast items at 2, when we fully stop serving breakfast items."
While another user said that a Filet-O-Fish is best enjoyed at lunchtime: "If you are a weirdo that goes to McDonald's for Filet-O-Fish, go at lunchtime.
"Despite rules to throw that crap away xx minutes after cooking, they regularly would be served late at night."
A former worker told Reddit: "Sandwiches with round egg use real, cracked eggs.
Folded and scrambled come from packaged goods in the freezer or fridge."
Another user suggested ordering your Big Breakfast with your eggs sunny-side-up to get the freshest eggs available
They said: "The 'Big breakfast' usually is made with scrambled eggs, you can ask them to be sunny side up as well.
"The eggs are real. McDonald's is the biggest buyer of chicken and eggs in the world."
One user told of a little glitch in the McDonald's app which can get you unlimited free cookies.
They said: "There is a 'deals' section and it usually has a coupon for a free cookie or free apple pie with any order. Add it to your order and you get the free cookie.
"Then, the next time you order from the app, just reorder your last meal (you can add/subtract whatever you want) but the free cookie will still be there.
"The glitch is that you can add another free cookie from the deals section, and now you have two free cookies.
"Evidently there is no cap to this. I now get 5 free cookies with each order."
Redditors were told how some of the staff make their own creations when on shift, but they tell the public not to bother ordering them as they won't be able to sell them.
However, one worker found out that they can make and sell grilled cheeses in some McDonald's franchises.
They said: "You can ask for grilled cheese. We put cheese between two backwards buns and grilled it."
One former worker said: "Custom creations were the best part of working there" even if the general public can't enjoy them.
But one treat you can enjoy is an Apple Pie McFlurry: "You can ask them to throw an apple pie into the McFlurry so you now have a PieMcflurry."
One hack to get a bargain of a meal is to order your double cheeseburger with everything on.
One person wrote: "Get a cheaper burger "dressed as a Mac" to save money on buying a Big Mac."
A user replied: "Order a McDouble and have them put everything on it including the special sauce and you essentially have a Big Mac minus the bun in the middle (which in all honesty I have never seen the need of) for more than half the price."
Another commenter added: "The big mac is just a double cheeseburger with 1000 island dressing, lettuce, and an extra piece of bread.
"If you order a double add lettuce and big mac sauce, you get the same thing with less bread and cheaper price."
You may have heard of the "hack" where if you want fresh french fries, you ask for fries with no salt so they have to be made on the spot.
However, workers say you can just ask for fresh fries: "I always thought it was hilarious how people would think they’d be so smart by ordering fries with no salt when you could literally just ask for fresh fries."
Former employees also said that you can order anything fresh and that it's worth the wait.
They wrote: "As a former employee, I learned you could ask for anything you wanted fresh.
"To anyone reading this — when its late or low-key hours at McDonald's, order your shit fresh.
"The max cook time is like 5 or 6 minutes for nuggets, 4 minutes for any beef. WORTH IT, TRUST ME."
Another user also revealed that you know the oil is fresh depending on the colour of your fries:
They said: "If the fries are yellow/brown, the oil hasn't been changed in a long time.
"If they come out white/very pale yellow, they're made in fresh oil."
