SUGAR RUSH

Fury over Heroes advent calendar as shoppers ‘want refunds’ over December 1st chocolate

CHOCOLATE fans were dismayed to find a Cadbury's Creme Egg behind the first door of their Heroes advent calendar this year.

The "love-it-or-hate-it" chocolate was slammed by shoppers who jokingly said Christmas is "cancelled" after the disappointment.

The Heroes advent calendar has a mini Cadbury's sweet treat behind each door, with December 1 featuring a Creme Egg in chocolate bar form.

In the 24-day countdown to Christmas, consumers will get a range of different chocolates including Fudge, Eclair, Wispa, Dairy Milk, Crunchie and Double Decker.

But it got off to a bad start for some Cadbury's fans, who took to Twitter to complain about the December 1 disappointment.

Disgruntled customers said the divisive chocolate had "ruined Christmas", jokingly asked if they were ";being punished" and said the offending item had gone "straight in the bin".

One Twitter user said: "Why was the first day of the Heroes advent calendar a Cream Egg. Clearly December ain't gonna be a good month."

"Nah my first chocolate in the Heroes advent calendar is a Creme Egg. I want a refund," another joked.

"You know it'll be a good month when the first chocolate in your heroes advent calendar is Creme Egg," a satisfied customer said.

Another Creme Egg fan added: "Thank god the fist door of my Heroes advent calendar was a good one cos if it was fudge or an Eclair I'd of cried."

The Sun has contacted Cadbury's for comment.

It's not the first time a selection box calendar has left some customers disappointed.

The Christmas countdown got off to a bad start for chocoholics with Celebrations calendars in previous years.

The first door revealed a miniature Bounty bar in 2018 and in 2019 the coconut chocolate was the treat for December 1 and 2.

Bounty-haters were given a break last year when they kicked off the the countdown with a Maltesers chocolate.

There's no Celebrations advent calendar this year, The Sun revealed last month.

Some of the festive countdowns only included one of the brand's festive treats - the rest were just a standard milk chocolate.

If you don't fancy eating chocolate all month, there are healthy options available or boozy ones at the other end of the scale.
