ICELAND has launched a cheeky spoof of John Lewis' hotly anticipated Christmas 2021 ad - just hours after it launched.
The supermarket has made a parody of the blockbuster advert, turning the main character - the alien Skye - into a potato snack.
Iceland took to social media channels including to post its hilarious version of John Lewis' ad, taking the opportunity to promote its new Space Raiders potato shapes.
Fans who have already seen John Lewis' new Christmas ad called The Unexpected Guest will know that it starts with schoolboy Nathan wandering into a forest after seeing a mysterious flying object crash land in the distance.
But in Iceland's tongue-in-cheek version, instead of seeing Skye the alien stood by her spaceship, we see a Space Raiders potato shape instead.
Nathan and his new potato friend bond in the snow, but then the scene switches to Nathan's family Christmas dinner - and this time, the alien-shaped spuds are on the menu.
Concerned about becoming part of the family dinner too, Nathan's pal quickly leaves on her spaceship.
The video ends with the caption: "For a Christmas as magical as your first…Eat An Alien."
Fans were delighted about Iceland's twist on John Lewis' tear-jerking ad.
One tweeted: "In tears!!" while another said: "Nice one."
Another fan said: "This is madness" while one commented: "Brilliant."
A spokesperson for Iceland said: “We have an incredible range of Christmas foods this year but couldn’t miss this chance to show off one of our most popular exclusives."
