Asda’s new loyalty app is rolled out in 16 stores – here’s the full list

ASDA has launched a trial of its new loyalty app across 16 stores - and shoppers can earn cash back if they buy certain products.

The Sun exclusively revealed that the supermarket was looking to launch its first-ever loyalty card scheme in its 72-year history in March this year.

Now, it's rolling out a trial of the new app across a number of its stores in West Yorkshire and the West Midlands.

Shoppers get cash back on their shopping by buying certain Asda own-brand and big brand products such as Cadbury's, Heinz and Budweiser.

Plus, customers can get cashback by buying certain ranges - Asda says you can get £1 cashback if they buy a certain amount of fruit and veg, and you can get £3 by spending £15 on pet products.

This cashback is put into a "cashpot" located in their app, and they can redeem the money by creating a voucher from the money they've saved.

Shoppers can then scan the voucher when they next shop at the supermarket.

The app is personalised to each customer - which means that you can get rewards on the items that you're most likely to buy.

There's no limit on how much you can save and when you can spend your cashback- so you can save your points up to pay for your Christmas shopping.

However, as the trial is only being rolled out across 16 stores, the majority of Asda customers can't get the app just yet.

The trial ends on 31 December, after which point the app could be rolled out wider to other shops if Asda decides it's been a success.

Asda vice president customer proposition and planning vice president Matt Mclellan said: "Our Asda Rewards trial rewards our loyal customers with pounds not points for buying the products they love.

"We hope that our customers will enjoy building up their cash pot during the trial and spending it on whatever they like in store – or saving it for the all-important Christmas shop.”

Asda isn't the only store to shake-up it's loyalty scheme.

Sainsbury's has announced that it will now offer personalised discounts under its Nectar card reward scheme.

That means shoppers will get money off the items they purchase the most and could bag up to 30% off these products.

Morrisons also changed its savings scheme in March - now shoppers receive digital coupons offering money off their shopping.
