MINISTERS and top business leaders have rushed to back our ‘Keep On Trucking’ campaign to drive up the number of Brits working as HGV truckers.
Minister for Employment Mims Davies MP said: “Hats off to the Sun for launching this campaign to get more Brits behind the big wheel.”
Jason Whittenham, MD of HGV driver recruitment agency Kenect Recruitment said: “The Sun’s campaign is amazing.
"Well done for publicising such a great incentive in these difficult times.”
Andrew Murphy, Executive Director, Operations for the John Lewis Partnership added: "Being an LGV driver offers flexibility, fantastic benefits and support in career development, so we hope The Sun’s campaign will help to encourage more people into working in this important role.”
Across the country, scores of firms from big-name retailers and supermarkets to local small businesses have pledged jobs to help end the 100,000 driver shortage.
The Sun is also offering free job listings for firms struggling to recruit HGV drivers.
