Aldi to extend Sunday opening hours this summer for shoppers to pick up Euros and heatwave supplies
ALDI is extending Sunday opening hours so shoppers can pick up Euros and heatwave supplies.
Aldi stores are set to open half an hour early from this Sunday, ahead of England’s Euro 2020 match against Croatia.
Normally stores will open at either 10am or 11am on a Sunday, it can vary from store to store though, so check your local one with .
The new change to times means stores will now open at either 9.30am or 10.30am instead.
After this weekend, stores across England and Wales will continue to open earlier than usual for browsing every Sunday and the change is expected to be in place for the rest of the summer.
The extended hours will give football fans more time to stock up on food during the rest of the Euros.
Also shoppers will have a chance to visit their local store at a quieter and somewhat cooler time too.
That means they'll have longer to be able to stock up on summer essentials as the UK experiences hotter temperatures.
Aldi announced the changes to store times on Twitter today, asking shoppers: "Still need to stock up for the Euros? We've got you."
Aldi's update comes as Primark has vowed to keep its extended opening hours when demand from shoppers shot up after the retailer reopened back in May.
The new Sunday hours at Aldi don't apply to stores in Scotland though as they will continue to open at 8am as usual.
Richard Thornton, communications director at Aldi UK, said: “We can’t wait for the football to kick off this weekend and want to help our customers enjoy the tournament as much as possible.
"Opening earlier will give fans more time to stock up on the great quality Aldi bargains they need to enjoy the football.”
You won't be able to head to the checkout during the extra half an hour though, as it's only been created for browsing purposes.
Plus there's no changes being made to when stores close - that will remain the same which is usually either 4pm or 5pm.
