Crafty Aldi shoppers flogging Kevin the Carrot Christmas toys for up to £2,500 on eBay a day after they hit stores
CRAFTY Aldi shoppers are flogging a pair of Kevin the Carrot toys for a whopping £2,500 on eBay a day after the items hit stores.
The hit toys went on sale in shops yesterday following its online release on November 15, which left shoppers queuing for over an hour online.
It came after Aldi had launched a new queuing system, similar to Glastonbury's ticket website, to help the website cope with the amount of people using it at the same time.
At the time, Aldi shoppers were left furious after one toy, which retailed for £19.99, appeared on eBay for £75.
The same thing has happened this time around, with plush toys featuring Grate Grandma and Grate Grandma available on for £2,500.
The toys originally cost just £3.99 each, meaning eBay sellers have pushed up the prices by £2,492.
In another new listing on eBay, an Aldi shopper has listed , despite originally costing just £23.92 overall.
Twitter users have vented about the mark-up on social media, with one user writing yesterday: "Kevin the carrot day is a c***.
"Someone’s put Kevin’s grandma and grandpa on eBay for £60 people are a joke."
While another said earlier in November: "@AldiUK its so unfair when your trying to get Kevin the carrot and Co and they are being sold on eBay for £129 or just slightly less. So greedy [sic]."
And a third added: This year's #Kevinthecarrot and friends going for silly amounts on eBay.
"Come on @AldiUK make more and get them on sale ASAP."
Aldi told The Sun it limited customers to buying two toys each - a policy which has been in place for a few years already.
It added that there are no restrictions on other merchandise, including the pyjamas, mug and gift wrap.
Prices start from £1.99 for Kevin-themed merchandise, with plush toys ranging in price from £3.99 to £19.99 for a giant Kevin the Carrot version.
Aldi has already sold out of the toys online and many customers have said that their local stores have run out too.
The discounter couldn't confirm whether the toys have sold out in stores nationwide, so it's best to give your local store a ring before popping over.
Aldi has roughly 900 stores across the UK. You can find your nearest one including contact details by using .
