MUMS who want to socialise in small groups after their kids have gone to bed are behind the “phenomenal” late night demand Primark has seen since reopening, bosses said yesterday.
Queues built up around the clock at the retail giant as it stayed open for more than 24 hours when shops resumed trading on 2 December.
Yesterday its owner ABF said that sales are “well up” year-on-year as the mums do their Christmas shopping.
They are also “way stronger” than after the first lockdown, when Primark rang up £2billion at the tills.
John Bason, head of finance at ABF, explained: “This is social. It’s about the experience and celebrating Christmas.
"At 11 and 12 o clock at night we are seeing lots of mums in small groups, enjoying Primark at leisure.”
