Greggs revamps loyalty app to give away free sandwiches, breakfasts and hot food

Before, customers were only able to Greggs Rewards points to get free hot drinks so it really is a step up from our lunchtime favourites.

The digital scheme, which is run through the bakery chain's app, will reward customers with a personalised gift.

The app will clock which product you buy the most and will then offer it for free when you've earned enough points.

This means you could get a sausage roll, steak bake, doughnut or Fairtrade ground coffee, depending on your previous spends.

How much your freebie is worth depends on what food item it is.

It's worth bearing in mind though that prices can vary depending on what branch you're in as costs vary by store.

Fans have to collect nine stamps before they can claim the freebie - it's one stamp per item, not per order.

Stamps can be bought from the drinks, sandwich and salads, breakfast, savouries, bakes and pizza, sweet treats and hot food ranges.

So if you bought a sandwich, cake and drink then you'd collect three stamps in one spend.

How much you have to spend before you get the free food depends on what you buy.

One of the cheapest options on the menu is a pot of porridge. You'll need to spend at least £9 on nine of them at £1 a go before getting a free one.

Of course, you'll need to spend more if products you buy cost more.

The free Greggs Rewards app is available on Apple and Android and lets you collect loyalty points when you spend. It also gives you access to free VIP tasters.

The app will be automatically updated on the first week of November so customers won't have to do anything except scan the barcode on the app when they spend to collect points.

You can find your nearest branch using the .

Alternatively, you can get your order delivered to your door via JustEat, although there is a £1.50 fee for the service.

Customers also won't be able to collect reward points if they order through the third-party service.
