Galaxy cookies voted best choc chip biscuits in Goodhousekeeping taste test of top biccies
GALAXY cookies have been named the UK’s favourite in a taste test of some of the UK’s most-loved biscuits.
Magazine sampled some of the nation’s best tea-time treats to find out which brands came up trumps when it comes to taste.
They sampled various popular biscuit types and flavours to come up with a master list of the best around.
They pitted different brands and supermarket versions against each other to see which would triumph, with the results have revealing the best tasting treats on the market.
In 2019 people were left outraged when Jaffa Cakes were named fourth in the country's top five biscuits in a poll of 7,000 Brits.
The chocolatey treats sparked fury by sneaking in at fifth place - even though they are legally registered as cakes according to VAT rules that say they aren't technically biscuits because they go hard if left out.
In that poll McVitties Chocolate Digestives came top, followed by Cadbury's Fingers, Cadbury's milk chocolate digestives in third and McVitie's plain Digestives in fifith.
Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
Galaxy’s chocolate Chip Cookies beat stiff competition to be named not only the best cookie on the market, but the best tasting biscuit of all.
The product scored a top mark of 91/100 thanks to its much-loved Galaxy chocolate chips in a crunchy golden cookie style biscuit.

Best Rich Tea Biscuits
There was a tie in this category. Aldi’s Belmont Rich Tea scored the same as Asda’s version with 74/100.

Best Custard Creams
Marks and Spencer took the title for best Custard Creams. The family-favourite sandwich biscuit scored 86/100 in the taste test, taking second place for overall favourite biscuits.

Co Op and Tesco tied for best bourbons both scoring 81/100.

Best plain and chocolate Digestives
Lastly, there was another tie in the Digestive category. Firm favourite McVitie’s takes the crown for the best plain digestives on the market.
While M&S takes the biscuit for the milk chocolate version. Although this biscuit was more popular than the McVitie’s version in the taste test scoring 78/100 compared to 72/100.
