That means the cheapest pizza on the menu - a regular margherita - comes in at just £4.75.

Soft drinks and hot beverages are also included, so the only thing diners will have to pay full price for is booze.

The government's 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme was designed to help boost Britain's restaurants that have been struggling due to coronavirus.

Under the scheme, the government said it would pay half of Brits' bills in participating restaurants up to a cap of £10.

But Prezzo is going one step further by removing the cap and offering half price to customers - with no maximum limit.

That means that someone could get a starter, main course, pudding and soft drinks all at 50 per cent off.

To get the best deal you'd need to order the king prawns or calamari starter (usual price - £7.50), a large Posh Pepperoni pizza (usual price - £15.50), a side of garlic bread with mozzarella (usual price £5.50) and a salted caramel chocolate tart or a honeycomb smash cheesecake (usual price £7) for pudding.

Normally that feast would set you back £35.50 but with the half price deal you'd save £17.75. If you had soft drinks or teas and coffees as well you'd save even more.

How will the Eat Out to Help Out scheme work?

THE government will cover half of the cost of a meal out, up to £10 a head, including children's meals.

The discount means that a meal out for one that costs £20 will be reduced to £10, but a £25 meal for one will be slashed to £15 because of the £10 cap per person.

There is no limit to the number of times you can use the discount, so in theory you can get half price meals on every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in August.

Businesses will need to register with the scheme on Gov.uk before being able to offer the discount, as well as be Food Standards Agency approved.

Instead of issuing discount vouchers - which the government felt increased the risk of fraud - restaurants, cafes and pubs will be able to claim back the cash.

The refund will then been transferred into restaurants, cafes and pubs' bank accounts within five working days.

Customers will only receive the discount if they eat out at a registered business.

But if you're watching your pennies or waistline, you can also get any pizza on the menu from less than £7.75 with several options under a fiver.

The set menus are great value for money too with three starter options, eight main course options (including burgers, pasta and pizza) and three pudding choices.

We detailed some more of the typical savings from the Prezzo menu in the top box above.

You can see all the menus online . The savings haven't been added, so you need to divide the prices in two to find out how much your meal would cost.

The deal applies on any Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday throughout the whole of August.
