McDonald’s to open 700 restaurants with table service tomorrow and customers will have to hand over details

MCDONALD'S is reopening 700 restaurants for dine-in tomorrow - and the fast food giant has confirmed customers WILL have to leave their contact details.

Food will be served by table-service only with customers able to order directly to their table via the My McDonald’s app, at the till or kiosk.

In line with government guidance, McDonald’s will also ask customers that choose to eat-in to leave their contact details via a website.

Diners will by able to use their smart phone to visit the webpage directly, or they can scan a QR code to take them to the website.

They'll then be asked to leave the name of the lead member and the number of people within their group, a phone number, the date and time of visit and the restaurant number.

Businesses are being asked to collect and customers' details for 21 days to help the NHS Track and Trace service, although they aren't required to do this by law.

Some of the 700 restaurants reopening for dine-in tomorrow will also take part in Rishi Sunak's Eat Out to Help Out scheme - meaning customers will get 50 per cent off their bill, up to £10 per person, Monday to Wednesday.

McDonald's hasn't said exactly how many sites will run the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, but it advises customers to use its to get in contact with their nearest restaurant.

It also hasn't revealed a full list of places that'll be open for dine-in tomorrow - again, Maccies fans should check using the restaurant locator.

It comes after the fast food giant slashed the price of fan favourites, including Big Macs and Happy Meals, following the government's VAT cut.

The discounts include a 40p reduction on Extra Value Meals menu and 30p off every Happy Meal.

McDonald's has also knocked 50p off breakfast meals and up to 30p off the price of a single McMuffins.

It's good news for Maccies fans, especially after the chain confirmed it's no longer enforcing its £25 spending limit.

The restaurant chain will have coronavirus safety measures in place for dine-in customers, following the reopening of more than 1,300 branches for delivery, takeaway and drive-thru.

This includes hand sanitiser stations, one-way floor markers, perspex screens around tills and fewer members of staff on shift.

McDonald's will still have a reduced menu, having just added milkshakes to its slimmed down selection.

In addition, the restaurant chain has also started serving breakfast again in more than 1,000 sites.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave the go-ahead for businesses including restaurants and pubs to reopen for dine-in customers from July 4.

But McDonald's decided not to reopen for eat-in on this date, saying it  "wasn't ready" to welcome back diners to its seating areas.

Instead, Maccies reopened just four branches for eat-in on July 15.

McDonald's shut all of its 1,350 restaurants across the UK in March amid the coronavirus lockdown.
