New map shows pubs with beer gardens opening this weekend

A NEW interactive map reveals nearby pubs with beer gardens as drinkers gear up for the relaxing of lockdown rules.

While the government has reduced the two metre social distancing rule inside pubs to just one metre, many punters may feel more comfortable visiting their local boozer if they can sit outside.

The risk of spreading Covid-19 is lower outside than inside, so sitting in a beer garden might make it easier for families to visit their local.

To help encourage customers back into pubs, Pint-Sized Trips has launched an interactive map to show exactly where your nearest pub garden is. You can see the .

Landlords and managers can submit details of the establishment for free and it will automatically be added to the map.

The finder tool was set live earlier this week and within the first 48 hours more than 500 pubs gardens had been plotted on it.

Thousands of pubs in England will be welcoming back customers for the first time in more than three months from Saturday.

But many pubs will have to reduce the number of customers allowed in at any one time to allow for social distancing.

To encourage outside dining, new rules have been introduced that let pubs and hotels turn their car parks and grounds into beer gardens to boost the economy.

And this map will help you find a boozer that's added outside space.

Pint-Sized trips was launched three years ago by blogger and graphic designer, Si Gamble who reviewed pubs on how children-friendly they are.

The dad-of-two said: "I realised though that one of the big draws a pub has for us parents was the beer garden.

How to submit your pub's details

LANDLORDS and managers at pubs with beer gardens can plot their boozer on the Pint-Sized Trips map for free.

You'll need to head to the website and enter in some details before it will be added. These are:

  • Pub name
  • Website or Facebook URL
  • Postcode
  • Contact email address

It will then be automatically added to the map.

"I thought I could help those pubs trying to reopen (regardless of whether kids are allowed or not) by opening up Pint-Sized Trips Beer Gardens to promote those pubs fortunate enough to have outside drinking space."

The map is similar to one run by , which also shows the best pub beer gardens.

But unlike the Pint-Sized one, pub-owners can't upload their details - instead it analyses Instagram hashtags and likes to find the ones that look best in photographs.

Of course, not everyone pub garden is featured on the map as it relies on users submitting the details themselves.

Many local news websites, such as , have also launched their own postcode finders to show which pubs will be reopening on the weekend.

Alternatively, you can call your local pub to find out what they're doing on Super Saturday - Google is a great place to start.

Boozers have been able to offer takeaway pints during lockdown, leading one website to build an interactive map showing exactly where to get a drink on the go.

Going to the pub won't be the same as before lockdown either as they will have to follow a set of strict Covid-19 secure guidelines, with some pubs only accepting table bookings.
